Pro Dissertatione Iuridica Excellentissima Award for Best Doctoral

 

Dissertation in Legal Studies Award by the Hungarian Academy of Sciences

 

Centre for Social Sciences, Institute for Legal Studies

 

The Hungarian Academy of Sciences Centre for Social Sciences, Institute for Legal Studies (hereinafter: HAS CSS ILS) invites submissions for its biannual doctoral dissertation award Pro Dissertatione Iuridica Excellentissima. 

Eligibility:

The jury will only consider those dissertations in legal studies, which have been written in Hungarian, English, German or French and defended between 15 September 2016 and 31 October 2018. The dissertation must have been defended in a University operating in Hungary.

To be considered, the jury must be provided with the following information:

  • The text of the dissertation in either PDF or MS Word format;
  • The synopsis/thesis-booklet of the dissertation (in Hungarian often called: tézisfüzet) - if this is part of the doctoral defence procedure, if not, please provide an extended abstract (3 to 5 pages) of the dissertation;
  • Written opinions from the opponents/discussants of the dissertation and the applicant's formal written response to them - if this is part of the doctoral defence procedure;
  • A copy of the doctoral certificate or official documentation of the successful defence.

No application will be considered without these items.

 

Applications should be submitted by email to the JTI.titkarsag@tk.mta.hu e-mail address and applicants are also required to send 3 copies through post to the Diector of the Institute:

by the deadline of December 21, 2018.

Public servant staff-members of the HAS CSS or those, who have been employed by the Centre within the previous three years in this capacity are excluded from this call.

The jury will determine the winner considering the novelty of the chosen topic, the applied methodology as well as the soundness of the reasoning and the socal or academic significance of the research.

The jury is assembled from the researchers of the Institute, invited to participate in the selection process by the Director of the Institute.
