The research group provides a forum to integrate various lines of research on issues pertaining to social groups that form either a numerical minority or face other forms of marginalisation or an inferior position in society. Thus besides racial, national and ethnic minorities, the focus of the research group includes scholarship on religious and sexual minorities as well as people with disabilities and inquiries into social inclusion, prejudice and discrimination.
Main research areas:
- the self-determination of national and ethnic minorities in Central-Eastern Europe
- freedom of religion
- combating prejudice, discrimination and hate crimes
- approaching intersectionality by legal and public policy measures
- the political representation of minorities
- post-conflict studies.
